By late Sunday afternoon, eight high school teams had emerged from “Super Sunday” as quarterfinal contestants on Rhode Island’s newest academic competition for students, High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island®. Produced by WSBE Rhode Island PBS and based on the WGBH show, High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island now moves to head-to-head competition in mid-November.
In alphabetical order, the advancing quarterfinalists are:
Barrington High School (1), Barrington

Classical High School (4), Providence
Exeter-West Greenwich Senior High School (8), West Greenwich
LaSalle Academy (2), Providence
Lincoln School (6), Providence
Lincoln Senior High School (5), Lincoln
Mount Saint Charles Academy (7), Woonsocket
Dubbed “Super Sunday,” the October 15 event simulated the rapid-paced game show format, with all teams competing separately. The eight highest scoring teams from Super Sunday will now advance to a seven-round, bracketed, single-elimination competition, held over two days on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. The seven rounds will be taped as they are played, and broadcast on Rhode Island PBS over seven weeks in early 2018.
High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island is a team-based single-elimination competition among qualifying high school teams. Teams are composed of four currently enrolled students and up to two alternates, with at least one adult coach. All Rhode Island public and private high schools were eligible and invited to participate.
