Cyberchase: Green It Up - Four Day Virtual Event for Kids 5+

Cyberchase has been engaging children in the fun and the challenge of math and STEM since 2002, and is the longest-running math series in America. The award-winning animated series proves that math is everywhere and that everyone can use it. Using diverse role models who approach math with persistence and confidence, studies have shown that Cyberchase has improved children’s knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for math and problem-solving.

The series now introduces Cyberchase: Green It Up, a national initiative designed to inspire an appreciation for nature, build STEM skills, and empower children to be environmental stewards in their communities. Rhode Island PBS is one of the nine stations to be awarded funding to support the national program.

Rhode Island PBS Education Services has partnered with the Woonsocket Harris Public Library to bring Cyberchase: Green It Up to children in the Rhode Island community in a virtual, accessible way. The program will be held on Zoom, Tuesday, April 20, through Friday, April 23, at 2-3 p.m.

Children ages 5+ will partake in three nature and environment-related modules, with one big “finale.” Participants can pick up Green It Up kits at Woonsocket Harris Public Library, West Warwick Public Library,  Cross' Mills Public Library in Charlestown, and Rogers Free Library in Bristol. Rhode Island PBS Kids Club Members can pick kits up at the Rhode Island PBS station. Pick-ups at chosen locations begin Friday, April 16, and kits will contain all the necessary items to follow the modules, titled Pollinators, Container Gardens, and Deforestation.

The Cyberchase: Green It Up program is free to attend, but registration is required. Parents and guardians can register their children here.

Cyberchase: Green It Up is made possible by WNET.
