Time to (Finally) Scan

Email share

The wait is over, antenna viewers. Rhode Island PBS is coming back to a TV near you!

We are happy to announce that we will resume broadcasting over-the-air on the weekend of December 6, which means that it is Time to Scan for the new frequency. Thank you for bearing with us throughout this lengthy transition.

For the past several weeks, our engineering crew has been installing some big, heavy hardware on a very tall broadcast antenna. Suffice it to say, we’re enormously thankful for their efforts and persistence through extremely difficult working conditions. We’d also like to extend our thanks to all the viewers who have experienced signal issues during this time. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

There are still a few loose ends that need tying-up before we’re performing at full capacity. We will be installing an amplifier at the antenna site towards the end of December, which will capitalize on the new equipment and effectively boost our signal. As this happens, we will be running diagnostics and intermittent testing; this may result in a handful of short delays, but rest assured, these would be minor and temporary. Our goal is to improve the quality and scope of our broadcasting, and the amplifier will be a major benefit in the long run.

In the meantime, please refer to the Time to Scan page for any further assistance you might need.

Thank you for your continued support of Rhode Island PBS. We’re beyond happy to have you back.
