The Opportunity:
Ocean State Media seeks a Coordinating Producer to serve as a key connector, storyteller, and community convener based in our Westerly Bureau. This person will deepen our community ties with local arts and cultural organizations to develop content for our multiple platforms
We are looking for someone who is a natural relationship builder, thrives in collaborative settings, and is passionate about arts, culture, and community reflection. The coordinating producer will work closely with Rhode Island artists, cultural organizations, civic leaders, as well as the Ocean State Media content team to bring local stories to life — across digital, broadcast, and in-person experiences.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Build & Sustain Partnerships
- Cultivate relationships with local arts institutions, performance venues, authors, musicians, civic leaders, and creative changemakers
- Act as a connector between Ocean State Media and Westerly-based organizations like the United Theatre, Knickerbocker Music Center, Artists’ Cooperative Gallery, Wilcox Park events, and others
- Attend, cover, and/or organize relevant community events, performances, or cultural gatherings
- Collaborate with content teams to adapt events, interviews, and community experiences for multiplatform distribution (audio, video, digital, social)
- Lead Local Engagement
- Help shape and coordinate live community events, convenings, and conversations hosted or co-hosted by Ocean State Media
- Serve as a local ambassador for Ocean State Media in Westerly — listening, inviting collaboration, and fostering authentic relationships
- Support Strategic Projects
- Work with the Chief Audience Growth & Innovation Officer and Chief Content Officer to prototype and pilot new storytelling formats, audience experiences, and arts-focused collaborations
- Contribute to larger company initiatives to grow local audiences, deepen impact, and reflect the communities we serve
Education / Experience / Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience with community-centered media collaborations
- Knowledge of the Westerly and statewide arts and culture scene
- A passion for arts and culture
- Audio and video production experience
- Digital production experience
- Knowledge and experience with social media as a content platform
- Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and/or Portuguese would be helpful
- Excellent writing skills
- A demonstrated track record of community engagement, i.e. working collaboratively with arts and culture and community groups, as well as individuals of different backgrounds
- A track record of exhibiting cultural competency in work and professional life

Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is between $50,000 - $65,000
