Email share

Lights, camera, action! doubleFEATURE returns January 2 with its fourth season.

On Thursdays at 8 p.m., doubleFEATURE showcases the art of the short film and those who craft them. Between the film selections, Steven Feinberg, director of the Rhode Island Film and Television Office, and George Marshall, executive producer at the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF), interview filmmakers and professionals in the industry.

Like the seasons before it, Season Four presents films of all artistic categories; from foreign language, to documentary, to fiction, or animation, no genre or interest is overlooked.

Image - episode401.pngFeatured in the first episode of the season (January 2; check local listings), hopeless romantics who love drama may love EISENHERZ, directed by Franz Maria Quitt. When Jacob, a shy nine-year-old dreamer, falls in love with his eleven-year-old neighbor Mai-Lin, he attempts to catch her attention. Lost in his longing for her, he’s unaware that his parents’ relationship is no longer what it once was.

Image - episode402.pngSci-Fi fans will enjoy director Alexander Turnpin’s Generation Mars, premiering in the second episode (January 9; check local listings). In a world where a reality show sends humans to Mars, the winner and main character Astrid faces a difficult question: how far would you go for fame?

These short films are just three of the many featured in the program’s new season. With popcorn popped and couch pillows fluffed, viewers are invited to experience a unique film festival every Thursday at 8 p.m.
