Lights… Camera… AUCTION!
April 25-30, 2004

Our celebrity auctioneers and legions of volunteers helped to make this year's auction such a memorable event. Thank you to our many donors and vendors - without you, the auction would not be possible! Enjoy the happy moments and smiling faces as we bring you images from Lights… Camera… AUCTION!
An emotional moment on live TV as Acting President Dave Piccerelli presents best wishes on behalf of the staff to retiring President and CEO Susan L. Farmer. Dave and Paul Zangari share a congratulatory beverage with Susan Farmer, saluting her 17 years of service to Rhode Island PBS.

The Rhode Island Broadcasters Association (RIBA) sponsored their annual Legislators Reception at the Rhode Island PBS facility on January 14, 2004. Members of the Rhode Island House and Senate mingled with radio and television personalities and executives at the casual event, catered by Guy Abelson Catering.

RIBA President Jay Howell presented an award of appreciation to Governor Don Carcieri, honoring the governor's outstanding leadership through the aftermath of The Station nightclub fire.

Elected officials also answered questions and commented on state issues during informal panel discussions, which were video taped. The program, Rhode Island Legislators Speak Out, aired January 18th at 9 a.m. on Rhode Island PBS.

Wine connoisseurs and collectors gathered to sample savory vintages of every color and body, and to enjoy a delectable feast that pleased the eye as much as the palate. The occasion was the 2003 Rhode Island Festival of the Vine Sunset Soirée, held on Saturday, September 6, 2003, at the Hope Club on Benevolent Street in Providence.

The event featured wine tasting, silent auction tables and a live auction of rare and exceptional wines. Auction proceeds benefit the Rhode Island PBS Program Fund.

Hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dessert were provided by Guy Abelson Catering. Our Grand Reserve Sponsor for the event was SAAB of South Kingstown. Additional support was provided by Coleman Realtors, The Virtus Group, and Providence Festival of the Vine. Wine tasting stations were hosted by Chambord Royale de France and Korbel Champagne, Phil Gasbarro Liquors, Westport Rivers Winery and Vineyard, Buzzards Bay Brewing, and Bedell Cellars.

Rhode Island PBS Appreciates Its Auction Volunteers

Rhode Island PBS honored its hard-working auction volunteers with an appreciation reception on the evening of June 4. The fun gathering included food and wine, and featured a mini-mall and bargain auction of special items and gifts, including 'Channel 36' memorabilia, and unclaimed items from April's Lights… Camera… AUCTION!

Volunteers enjoy conversation and delicious dessert - equally sweet!

Susan L. Farmer, president and CEO of Rhode Island PBS opened the bidding action with a little "vintage" humor.

Rhode Island PBS Membership Director Rhonda Aleixo accepts a $7,000 check from MetLife Foundation representative David Pate, on the grounds of the MetLife facility in Warwick. This generous contribution supports publication of the 2003-2004 Rhode Island PBS Instructional Television Program Guide. The guide is distributed to over 10,000 educators each year and is considered an excellent resource by classroom teachers.

The MetLife Foundation has been a strong supporter of Rhode Island PBS, and has funded the ITV Program Guide since 1997. In addition to the company’s charitable contributions, management and employees of MetLife volunteer their time to Rhode Island PBS membership drives and auctions.

On behalf of Rhode Island PBS and the educators and schoolchildren of Rhode Island, thank you, MetLife!
