Join Rhode Island PBS for an exciting evening of live and local music on Wednesday, October 19, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Legendary singer songwriter Judy Collins will join us live in studio as we premiere her new concert special, Judy Collins: A Love Letter to Stephen Sondheim followed at 9:00 pm by Judy Collins: Live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Students from the award-winning Cranston East High School choir will also be joining us and will sing popular holiday selections throughout the evening.
During the broadcast on October 19, Rhode Island PBS will be offering tickets to see Judy Collins perform live when she comes to The Park Theatre on December 23, 2016. You don’t want to miss this lively night of entertainment, only on Rhode Island PBS!
About the Choir!
The award-winning Cranston High School East Choir is comprised of over 100 members, and is directed by Mrs. Emily Johnson, and Mrs. Pamela Lowell. The choir regularly scores at the Superior level at the RIMEA choir festival, and last April had a very successful tour in Orlando, Florida. The choir sang in Downtown Disney, and the was also the first school group to perform works from Frozen in the Disney Performing Arts Workshop. . Mrs. Johnson is entering her fourteenth year teaching in Cranston, and is Cranston's Music Program Supervisor. Mrs. Lowell is a veteran teacher of Cranston Public Schools, and is also the orchestra director at Cranston East. She is a professional cellist and also sings in the Rhode Island Civic Chorale. The choir and their directors are very excited to be given this once-in-a-life time opportunity to sing with Ms. Collins.
