Student research projects and internships are available for undergraduate and graduate college students wishing to learn about research and gain experience in public television. Students receive a specific number of school credits for conducting a research project or for completing an internship project per semester. The number of credits granted to a student is based on the specified course requirements of the school, which the student attends.

Students wanting more information about research projects and internships should contact Dr. María del Pilar Velásquez, Director of Educational Services.

Education Research and Senior Internship Projects

Rhode Island PBS History: Who Are We? was a college student research project conducted over two semesters in 2005-2006 under the supervision of Dr. Velásquez. This was the first student project that researched, organized, and presented the history of Rhode Island PBS in a timeline by decade.

The project required researching the history of public television; identifying key events and people relevant to WSBE's history; sorting through surviving records and photo archives; planning, scheduling and conducting interviews with key people; organizing all the information into a sensible chronology; writing the story.
