Rediscover the Spirit of Rhode Island with OUR TOWN: A Look Back

Email share

From the rustic taverns of Glocester to the sprawling nature preserves of Middletown, the Ocean State has no shortage of hidden gems. A native Rhode Islander might fondly recall the carousels of Westerly or spin tales from the harbor landings of North Kingstown. However, these stories can only be told by those who live and breathe them every day – and no series captures the essence of local life quite like Our Town.

Over the past five years, the series has compiled a dynamic scrapbook of documentary films featuring Rhode Island’s many towns and villages. More importantly, however, the project was handcrafted by you, the community of town residents and friends. You took us through a day in the life and dropped a pin at your must-see destinations. You showed us your favorite ice cream shops and regaled us with your towns’ most famous urban legends. In celebration of the local filmmakers and storytellers that made this series possible, Rhode Island PBS proudly presents Our Town: A Look Back.

Featuring a one-hour tour of the series with segments from each episode, the special premieres on December 4 at 9 p.m. with an encore to follow at 10 p.m. We hope you can tune in and revisit the spirit of Rhode Island with us!
