Music has the power to heal, to move, to express feelings in unique and universal ways. Life & Lyrics with host Lisa Purcell casts a warm and personal light on the power of music. The interviews highlight a particular lyric or song, or perhaps a musician or band, that holds special meaning to each guest being interviewed.

In the latest edition of Life & Lyrics, Lisa covers all the major popular sports with interviews of local sports celebrities from basketball, baseball, hockey, and football. Life & Lyrics: The Sports Edition premieres Friday, June 22 at 8 p.m.

As a radio commentator during Friars games for more than 25 years, Hassett’s reminiscences include playing against Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s.

A graduate of St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, Iannetta started his major league career with the Rockies, and is now back with that team. In his career, Chris has also played for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Seattle Mariners, and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Four years later, Sara won a silver medal with team USA in Salt Lake City in 2002. She is now a wife and mother of three children plus a hockey coach.

The segment profiles Bruschi’s formation of his foundation, Tedy’s Team, following his stroke in 2005. Tedy's Team is dedicated to raising awareness of stroke. Every year, Tedy hand-selects a small group of runners, from a pool of thousands of applicants, to represent the foundation in the Boston Marathon.
