Straight No Chaser is sure to please when they come to the Rhode Island Center for Performing Arts (former site of the Park Cinema) on Park Avenue in Cranston on Sunday, November 21st. Over a dozen years ago, 10 college friends realized they all loved to sing and decided to start an a cappella singing group. None of them thought it would be anything more than something fun to do throughout college. Nor did they think that new members would want to join after some members graduated. But the group and its popularity grew to become Straight No Chaser.

Celtic Thunder is known for its eclectic style with songs ranging from a soloist to an ensemble focus. The group is backed by the Celtic Thunder Band on their concert tours, and their live shows are known for the use of dramatic effects via lighting and choreography as well as a stage set resembling an ancient stone pathway suggestive of those referenced in Celtic lore.

George Donaldson, vocalist (b. February 1, 1968) George Donaldson is the oldest member of the group and is a well-known balladeer, guitarist and flautist from Glasgow, Scotland. At Scotland's Celtic Park Donaldson was chosen to play to 65,000 fans at the opening match of the 2000-2001 seasons.

Ryan Kelly, vocalist (b. November 6, 1978) Ryan Kelly is from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He has been singing with choirs since he was a young boy but always primarily enjoyed traditional Irish and folk music. He holds two degrees from the Queen's University Belfast, having earned a B.S. in Accounting and a graduate degree in Advanced Accounting. While working as a Chartered Accountant, he continually was involved in theatre, playing the lead in Blood Brothers and the role of Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Girls from the North Coutry - Canadian folk sensations Dala have come a long way from their high school music class. The duo - best friends Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine - were the only Canadian act invited to play at last year's 50th Anniversary Newport Folk Festival.

Now Rhode Island will have the chance to experience their seamlessly blended harmonies once again with the premiere of their PBS special Girls from the North Country. Joined at the Richmond Centre for the Performing Arts in Ontario, Canada, by Oh Susanna and the Good Lovelies, the music they create evokes the beauty of the lush and rugged Great White North. By intertwining their own songs with classics by Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Gordon Lightfoot, Dala creates a concert to remember.
