In 2001, the Educational Services Department conducted a Video Streaming Pilot Program that included 12 Rhode Island public schools. The pilot video streamed supplemental video content to schools' classrooms by using the Internet. The pilot program proved a great success therefore WSBE Rhode Island PBS decided to formalize the use of streamed video content to supplement the curriculum extending its use to K-12 schools and institutions offering adult education programs and services in Rhode Island.
As the pioneer of video-streamed curriculum in Rhode Island’s classrooms, WSBE Rhode Island PBS continues to offer high-quality, low-cost video stream content as well as customized professional development for teachers.
