Recording Rights Rhode
Island PBS has purchased the rights for Rhode Island schools to record programs
when they aired, and to use them at a later more advantageous time within the
school schedule. You may record, view, and show Rhode Island PBS (ITV) Instructional
Television programs according to the following code. P
In Perpetuity: (Life
of tape) An ITV program may be recorded off the air and used for educational purposes
as long as the physical tape is usable. Y
Year Long: An ITV program may be recorded and retained for educational
purposes in the classroom for one year from the time it was taped, regardless
of the national original broadcast date and regardless of how many subsequent
times the program airs. After one year, the program should be erased. D
Dated: An ITV
program may be recorded off the air and used for educational purposes until the
stated expiration date regardless of when the program was recorded. On the expiration
date, the program should be erased. Please
check specific dates of broadcast rights in each program description given in
this ITV Guide. If
your school has recorded any ITV program that is no longer broadcast by Rhode
Island PBS, YOU MUST ERASE IT! Failure to erase a program is a violation of the
programs' copyright and subjects your school and school district to full prosecution
under program copyright laws. ^
