Video Streaming from Rhode Island PBS is a subscription-based service available to all public, private, and catholic schools in the State of Rhode Island.

There is an annual connection and maintenance fee of $650 per school. Public schools unable to afford this fee can request Rhode Island PBS financial support for services by completing a FEE WAIVER FORM.

Public education teachers are eligible to apply for a FREE individual account or can subscribe through their school account.

To find out if your school has a Video Streaming account, please click on the list of schools already connected and request that school's teacher and student passcodes by emailng to Education@RIpbs.org.

If your school is not in the list of schools connected you can request a FREE teacher individual account by emailng to Education@RIpbs.org.

Free waivers are to be used by public schools ONLY.

Subscription Requirements for Individual School Accounts

In order to subscribe to video streaming with Rhode Island PBS, school districts or individual schools must have:

* appropriate technology infrastructure that supports the Video Streaming service.
* an Internet connection.
* Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1 or Quick Time in computers.
* a designated contact person to work with Rhode Island PBS' Department of Education Services on issues related to:

  • the school's technology infrastructure and computers.
  • the service/connection.
  • annual connection and maintenance fee.
  • distribution of teacher and student passcodes across the district or individual schools.
  • Video Streaming demonstrations and teacher training and development sessions.
  • free Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • annual Video Streaming utilization reports.

* a letter of request by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum Director, Technology Director, School Principal, School Librarian or any other appointed person. The letter of request should be submitted on the district's or school's letterhead and it needs to:

  • indicate a commitment to subscribe to video streaming for a full school year.
  • include the list of schools to be connected to Video Streaming and their respective contact person.
  • have attached a purchase order number, billing address, and annual subscription fee amount and dates (districts or individual schools will be invoiced upon receipt of the letter and purchase order).

Please note: Without a Video Streaming subscription for the 2007-2008 school year it is not permissible to use any videos, video clips, or educational materials previously acquired with the Video Streaming Program.
