From Pictures to Words gives you a firsthand look at the ways children make the transition from drawing and painting pictures to the beginning stages of literacy-from listening and speaking to emergent reading and writing. Shown on public television stations across the country, this engaging video provides a window into the real-life interactions of diverse groups of children from preschool through second grade as they work with teachers and each other on activities including: o drawing and painting pictures and graphic representations o listening to and dictating the stories of others o recognizing letters and spelling words o writing their own original stories.
